Moon Camp

April 14, 2026

Moon Camp, an innovative youth camp initiated by Youth Initiative on New Year, was held this year in Nuwakot, Ghyamphedi. Sixty-five young people from diverse backgrounds—including different sectors, genders, geographic areas, and ethnicities—participated in the camp. The camp provided an opportunity for young people to connect with one another, collaborate in supporting rural communities, and learn in depth about the real stories of rural villages. Participants were given hands-on opportunities to work through school activities such as art, painting, plantation, and cleaning. Along with these activities, participants built strong relationships with local community members through community visits. They also learned about the perspectives of civic space and climate, and directly observed and interacted with rural life, as well as the challenges faced by rural communities. To make this camp a success, we would like to extend our special thanks to Adara Group, NGO Federation of Nepal, Centre for Educational Policies and Practices (CEPP), Yuwalaye and Voice of Children. We would also like to thank the family of Ghyamphedi Secondary School, Urjasil Yuwa Club, and the entire community of Ghyamphedi for taking part and contributing to our camp.
